(Archives of Previous Campouts) Our Zero Degrees Campout Geocaching at Clinton Lake State Park A Boy Scout is to be prepared at all times, and while a Scout strives to be prepared, there are sometimes new experiences that come his way. Take our recent campout which got down to at least zero degrees. Consider this, how often have you camped out at a time when you could have ice cream for dessert, leave the ice cream setting outside when you go to bed for the night and wake up the next morning to find the ice cream frozen even more than it was the night before. Or how about cooking a nice pot of chili for supper, then leaving the chili out all night, and waking the next morning with the chili nicely frozen and ready to be thawed and eaten again at a later date. Washing dishes proved to be an interesting experience also. You could warm water in your pan over the fire, then when you moved away from the fire to wipe the pan out you had about two minutes before the water started turning to ice. God was very kind to us on Saturday, providing us with some nice sunlight that made the air feel quite a bit warmer for a short time before the temperatures started dropping again in the afternoon. Overall, everyone seemed to have a pretty good time, especially when it came time for the geocaching that was organized by our Venture Team on Saturday. Comments from Attendees "Standing around the fire...now I know what a rotisserie chicken feels like."
